Community members are invited to join us from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 30th as we get the Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre gardens and grounds ready for the 2017 season. Bring your work gloves, pails and weeding tools – refreshments will be provided.
Residents of the Village of New Denver and members of the public are hereby advised that the Council of the Village of New Denver will hold a Committee of the Whole Meeting on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers to discuss the Village’s 2017 Budget and Five Year Plan.

Residents of New Denver are invited to attend an open house to learn about the outcomes of the two recent structural assessments done on the Knox Hall and the Bosun Hall. Steven Thomson, Principal Engineer from 9dot Engineering Inc. will be presenting the results of the structural assessments and will be available to answer questions directly related to the contents of the two reports.

PDF copies of both of the structural assessment reports are available on the Village’s website at www.newdenver.ca/documents/reports-and-studies and a printed copy can also be viewed at the Village Office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., weekdays except statutory holidays.

SIFCO project manager, Stephan Martineau will be presenting information to the public regarding the New Denver Fire Hazard Reduction Project on Tuesday, November 8 at 7 pm at Knox Hall.
The goal of the project is to:
- Reduce ground and ladder fuel loading and lower canopy, to minimize potential fire travelling up trees or from one tree to another.
- Show private land owners methods to manage their own forests, thereby protecting themselves and their community.
Project estimated dates: October 2016 to early July 2017 and October 2017 to July 2018. These dates are weather dependent. Please check for exact dates at www.sifco.ca.

In accordance with Village of New Denver Outdoor Burning Regulation Bylaw No. 591, 2005, limited open burning is permitted within the municipal boundaries from September 30 to November 15th. All residents wishing to conduct open burning are first required to obtain a permit (free for small fires!) from the Village Office.
Area residents are reminded that the Open Burning Period ends on November 15, 2016.
It’s Trash to Treasure time again! The RDCK is celebrating Waste Reduction Week in Canada by promoting this reuse event on Saturday, October 22nd. The one-day Trash to Treasure gives people a chance to give away gently used items to those who may find value in them. The Village of New Denver is holding an Arbour Day on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. We will pick up all yard and pruning waste that is placed at the curb by 8 a.m. Please ensure that all branches are bundled and tied and all garden refuse (leaves, etc.) is bagged. Absolutely no household garbage or construction material will be picked up. Please ensure that all bundles and bags are an acceptable weight. Remember, you only have to lift one bag in comparison to the number our crew will have to lift. Thank you for your cooperation.
Time again to clean out your garden shed, garage and under the kitchen sink to safely get rid of toxic chemicals such as pesticides, oils, cleaners, and unknown liquids! The Regional District of Central Kootenay is pleased to announce six upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Round-up events happening Sept. 17-Oct. 2. These community events offer free disposal for RDCK residents. No industrial or commercial hazardous waste will be accepted.
