North Valley Mountain Film Festival

The 12th Annual North Valley Mountain Film Festival will be at the Silverton Memorial Hall on March 3rd, 2018.

Doors open at 6:30; Films start at 7:00pm.

Admission:  $10 adults, $5 youth / students
children aged 10 and under are free but still need a ticket

All ages event with refreshments available.

 

Knox Hall Rehabilitation Planning Sessions

The Village of New Denver is currently planning a
redevelopment proposal for the Knox Hall.
Local residents and user group members are invited to attend
either of the public information sessions to provide feedback
on portions of the plan.

Join us at the Knox Hall:
Tuesday December 5th
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
or
Wednesday December 6th
2:00 – 4:00 pm

Sessions made possible with the support of the Village of New Denver and Columbia Basin Trust.

Hazardous Household Waste Round-Up 2017

It’s that time of year again! Check your shed, garage, basement and under your sink for those hazardous materials that cannot be taken to the landfill or recycling depots. The Regional District of Central Kootenay is holding its annual Hazardous Household Waste Round-up events and accepting your old oil, paint, pesticides, cleaners, chemicals and other toxic materials.

There are six events offering free disposal for RDCK residents and the opportunity to make sure hazardous waste is managed in a safe manner. The nearest location for New Denver residents:  SILVERTON PUBLIC WORKS YARD – Saturday Sept. 30, 2017,  11:00am-2:00pm. For other locations near your community, please check the poster.

Don’t forget to bring a donation for your local food bank as well. The events are for residential household waste only, industrial and commercial waste will not be accepted.

Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre – Obon Ceremony

The Obon ceremony is to be held on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Kyowakai Hall at the Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre – 306 Josephine Street.

The Kyowakai Hall will have its exhibits moved to accommodate the ceremony therefore the Centre will be open by donation.  The general public are welcome to attend the ceremony.  It is requested that those attending stay for the duration of the ceremony to prevent unnecessary disturbances to the other attendees.

ArtWalk New Denver & Silverton kicks off July 14 and will run until September 10!  This event showcases 18 local artists in 8 venues  in New Denver and Silverton. Map will be available at local businesses and will guide you through the exhibits. We hope you have a chance to stroll among the local businesses and take in the wonderful art  created in our community.

Swim to Survive Program

Castlegar and District Community Complex and Lifeguard Outreach Society team up to bring the Swim to Survive program to New Denver! This free event is two short days of swim lessons July 12 and 13,  1 pm-2:30pm at Bigelow Bay in New Denver. For Ages 5+ (kids under 7 must be accompanied by an adult).
