A Local Government election is scheduled for Saturday October 20, 2018

Nomination packages for prospective candidates are available, from the Village Office, weekdays except statutory holidays, between 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Please note that completed nomination packages can only be submitted to the Village Office between 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4th and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14th.

Bosun Hall Replacement Feedback

A presentation was held on July 16th, 2018 at the Bosun Hall to view and discuss the feasibility plans for a new building created by Cover Architecture.

The preliminary plans have attempted to resolve all of the priorities and features that were requested during various rounds of consultation with community members and stakeholders.

Local area residents are invited to view the initial building plans for a new Bosun Hall at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 16th, at the Bosun Hall. Feedback from attendees will be gathered at the event to guarantee community input is included in the final plans. This will give Council valuable information regarding the various potential options for the future of the Bosun Hall. The final plans will be received by Council prior to making a decision about the future of the building.

KNOX HALL BUILT HERITAGE GRANT APPROVED

CBT Built Heritage Program – Grant Funding Approved

The Village of New Denver has been given grant funding of $210,694 through the Columbia Basin Trust’s Built Heritage Program to commence improvements on the Knox Hall. The Knox Hall Revitalization Project will provide funds to restore many heritage features and upgrade systems throughout the building to improve its functionality for end users.  The Village will contact all renters affected by the project when further information is available.  The hall will remain open until further notice.

 

2017 CARIP Report

The 2017 CARIP Report is now available for viewing.  The Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP) is a conditional grant program that provides funding to BC Climate Action Charter (Charter) signatories equivalent to one hundred percent of the carbon taxes they pay directly.  This funding supports local governments in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and move forward on achieving their Charter goals. Residents of the Village of New Denver are reminded that 2018 Property Taxes have been mailed out. Property Tax Payments are due on or before Monday, July 16, 2018.  Please contact the office if you have not received your notice by June 11th, 2018.

Information about the provincial Home Owner Grant programs, Property Tax Deferment programs, and the general property taxation process are available from the Village Office or on our website: http://newdenver.ca/property-tax-information/.

OUTDOOR BURNING REMINDER

Residents of New Denver are reminded that outdoor burning is regulated within the Village of New Denver.  Outdoor fires contained within a barbecue pit or fire pit having a surface area not greater than four (4) square feet; or within a manufactured gas, coal or electric barbecue are permitted unless a campfire ban is in effect.  Other open burning is only permitted during designated periods and does require a free permit from the Village – the next open burning period starts September 30th.  Council thanks all residents for their cooperation.
