2018 BUDGET NOTICE

Subject to Section 166 of the Community Charter, the Council of the Village of New Denver invites public consultation in the preparation of the Village’s 2018 Five Year Financial Plan.  Council welcomes public input from residents of the Village with regards to items they would like to see addressed in the budget.

To ensure Council’s consideration please submit your comments to the Village of New Denver Municipal Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018.

GARBAGE COLLECTION – Holiday Schedule

Residential and commercial garbage collection will take place on Tuesday, December 19th, on Wednesday, December 27th and on Tuesday, January 2nd.  Friday collection of commercial garbage will remain unchanged.

The Council and Staff of the Village of New Denver would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Village Office will be closing at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 22nd and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday January 2nd.

WILDFIRE PROTECTION PROJECT

The Village of New Denver would like to advise area residents that Slocan Integral Forestry Coop (SIFCo) have resumed wildfire interface treatment activities in and around New Denver over the coming months, thanks to funding assistance obtained from UBCM.   The primary focus of the current work is on the south side of the Carpenter Creek dike.

The Village of New Denver reminds residents that snow removal is a priority over the winter months.  The Village requests your cooperation in removing items from the lanes, alleys and boulevards so that plowing can be done efficiently and safely.  If you are uncertain about an item please contact the Village Office.

ARBOUR DAY

The Village of New Denver is holding an Arbour Day on Wednesday November 1 AND Thursday November 2, 2017.

We will pick up all yard and pruning waste that is placed at the curb by 8 a.m.  Please ensure that all branches are bundled and tied and all garden refuse (leaves, etc.) is bagged.  Absolutely no household garbage or construction material will be picked up.  Please ensure that all bundles and bags are an acceptable weight.  Remember, you only have to lift one bag in comparison to the number our crew will have to lift.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Outdoor Burning Permitted within New Denver Boundaries

Residents of New Denver are reminded that outdoor burning is regulated within the Village of New Denver.  Permits are required for all outdoor fires except cooking fires contained within a barbecue pit or fire pit having a surface area not greater than four (4) square feet; or within a manufactured gas, coal or electric barbecue.

Free burning permits are available from September 30th to November 15th – for more information please contact the Village Office, weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Council thanks all residents for their cooperation.

Community Well-being Survey

The Village of New Denver, in partnership with the Columbia Basin Rural Development Institute (RDI) at Selkirk College, is conducting research on the well-being of our community with an interest in resident attraction and retention. This survey asks residents about quality of life and several aspects related to community services and livability in and around New Denver. While the survey is created to assist with community planning and decision-making by the Village of New Denver, residents of Silverton and Area H North are invited to share their views. Part-time residents are also encouraged to take the survey.

The survey will take about 15 minutes. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Please take the online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NewDenverArea. The survey is open from October 19 to November 13, 2017. Hardcopies are also available at the Village office.

New Denver Trail Network Official Opening Celebration

The Village of New Denver invites all interested members of the public to a trail opening celebration on Wednesday, October 11th at 1:00 pm.

The Trail Network Connections Project was funded through the CBT Recreation Infrastructure Program in 2016.  The Village is very proud of the trail crew and the excellent work that has been done over two summer seasons to create a trail network that accesses the lake shore from Bigelow Bay to Centennial Park.

The Village also wishes to thank all residents for their patience during the project.
