All residents and visitors are reminded that a campfire ban is in effect within the Village of New Denver’s municipal boundaries, as well as in the surrounding rural areas.

 

PROPERTY TAXES DUE

Village of New Denver property taxes bills have been issued and are due before 4 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2017.  A 10% penalty will be applied to all amounts that are outstanding after the payment deadline.  Eligible residents must return the completed Home Owner Grant claim form to the Village Office by the July 17th deadline in order to avoid penalty.   Payments may be made in person at the Village Office (by cash, cheque or debit), by mail, or online through the Kootenay Savings Credit Union.

Residents of the Village of New Denver are asked to observe the following rules regarding the use of sprinklers within the municipal boundaries:

Level 1 Sprinkling Restrictions: No sprinkling between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Swim to Survive Program

Castlegar and District Community Complex and Lifeguard Outreach Society team up to bring the Swim to Survive program to New Denver! This free event is two short days of swim lessons July 12 and 13,  1 pm-2:30pm at Bigelow Bay in New Denver. For Ages 5+ (kids under 7 must be accompanied by an adult).

Annual tax notices have been mailed to all property owners in the Village of New Denver. Please note that penalties will apply if full payment is not received by the Village before Monday, July 17, 2017. (Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4 pm, except for statutory holidays). Payments can be made by cash, cheque or debit at the Village Office, or through Kootenay Savings Credit Union accounts online.  If you own property in the Village but have not received a tax notice, please contact the Village Office.

The Village of New Denver would like to thank the May Days Committee, the Arena Society, Columbia Basin Trust, Fomi’s Bakery and all the people that came out to volunteer for the 2017 New Denver May Days events. The free BBQ lunch that was sponsored by the Village with the support of CBT and Fomi’s was a success with almost 200 hotdogs being given away.

NIKKEI CENTRE FREE PASSES

To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Japanese Canadian internment, and Canada’s 150th birthday, the Village of New Denver is offering all residents free season’s passes to the Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre.  Property owners will receive their pass in their tax notice – any resident who has not received a pass is invited to contact the Village Office to arrange delivery.

A public presentation about future plans for Knox Hall and Bosun Hall is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6th at the Knox Hall.  Community members are invited to come and hear about Council’s proposed course of action regarding these facilities, and share their thoughts with Council.
