Artists in all disciplines—as well as arts, culture and heritage organizations—are invited to apply for funding through the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance (CKCA), which delivers the Arts, Culture and Heritage Program on behalf of Columbia Basin Trust.

Applications must be received by March 3 or March 17, 2017, depending on the program.
Residents are advised that Utility Invoices have been mailed. A 5% penalty will be applied to all amounts that have not been paid by February 15th of each year, and an additional 5% penalty will be applied to all amounts that remain unpaid at October 1st of every year.
Payments can be made by cash, cheque, debit card and online (via Kootenay Savings Credit Union).
If paying online:
- Select the payee as New Denver, Village; then select Vendor #11055 > UTILITIES. For more information about online payments, please contact KSCU.
- Please enter YOUR Utility Account number (see top left-hand side of your invoice, beneath your address).
The CIP/AAP supports projects identified as priorities within individual communities and is designed to help address the needs of Basin communities. The program is intended to be flexible to help address the needs of individual communities and decisions on how to best disburse the funding are community based.
Proposals are welcomed from January 8 to February 28, 2017. For 2017 application forms, please visit the following website at http://rdck.ca/cip-aap for the 2017 and further additional program details. Forms are also available at the Village of New Denver Office.

The Council and Staff of the Village of New Denver would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. For office hours and garbage collection, please note the following holiday schedule:
The Village Office will be closing at 4:00 p.m. on Friday December 23rd and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 3rd.
Residential and commercial garbage collection will take place on Wednesday, December 28th and on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Commercial garbage collection will not take place on Friday, December 30th.
Please note the changes in hours of operation for the Rosebery Transfer Station (RDCK Resource Recovery Facility Site) during the holiday season:
Wednesday, Dec. 21 – 9 am to 3 pm
Saturday, Dec. 24 – 9 am to 2 pm

The Village of New Denver is seeking a qualified consultant to carry out an Economic Development Strategy. The project is in partnership with the Villages of Slocan, Silverton, and RDCK Area H, with funding assistance from the Province of BC. Applicants are welcome to submit a proposal before or on November 30th.

SIFCO project manager, Stephan Martineau will be presenting information to the public regarding the New Denver Fire Hazard Reduction Project on Tuesday, November 8 at 7 pm at Knox Hall.
The goal of the project is to:
- Reduce ground and ladder fuel loading and lower canopy, to minimize potential fire travelling up trees or from one tree to another.
- Show private land owners methods to manage their own forests, thereby protecting themselves and their community.
Project estimated dates: October 2016 to early July 2017 and October 2017 to July 2018. These dates are weather dependent. Please check for exact dates at www.sifco.ca.

In accordance with Village of New Denver Outdoor Burning Regulation Bylaw No. 591, 2005, limited open burning is permitted within the municipal boundaries from September 30 to November 15th. All residents wishing to conduct open burning are first required to obtain a permit (free for small fires!) from the Village Office.
Area residents are reminded that the Open Burning Period ends on November 15, 2016.
Residents of the Village of New Denver are hereby advised that the start time of the Regular Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 8, 2016 has been moved from 7:00 pm to 6:00 pm to allow Council members to attend the presentation on Fire Hazard Reduction around the Village of New Denver.
This time change will only effect the Tuesday, November 8, 2016 Regular Council Meeting. All other regularly scheduled meetings will begin at 7:00 pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
