The Council of the Village of New Denver is happy to announce that Ashraf Alam will soon be joining the Village of New Denver team as Chief Administrative Officer and Corporate Officer.
Md. Ashraf Alam (Ash), has a strong background in municipal government and non-profit organizations spanning over two decades. Ash was born in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and moved to New York, NY when he was 6. Having lived in multiple countries, Ash understands the effects of development decisions on cultural, natural, social, and economic areas and is able to determine outcomes that are in the best interest of the community and region.
He is a motivated professional with communication proficiency and extensive executive management and leadership experience. Having completed the National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration (NAALCA) Level I and Level II with distinction from the University of Alberta as well as his MBA from the University of Nevada, and his BBA from Arizona State University, Ash possesses broad-based knowledge across diverse sectors.
Throughout his career, Ash has been actively involved in various local organizations, dedicating over 2,000 hours of community service. He has held significant roles such as Revenue Generating Committee board member of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators, elected board member of the Northern Sport, Culture and Recreation District, and as the President of the Rotary House Society Board in Drayton Valley, AB.
Outside of work and community involvement, Ash and his wife, Nicole, are passionate animal lovers, providing a loving home for a rescued dog named Riley. They have been happily married for many years and have two grown children. Ash enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, travel, and hockey. Community service remains a top priority for him, reflecting his unwavering commitment to the local business community and the pursuit of excellence in the industry.
