The Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre is hiring for the 2019 season.  There are grant dependent student positions available, as well as non-student positions to be filled. Interested individuals can contact the Village Office for more information.  The deadline for non-student positions is April 1st, and applications for the grant dependent student positions is April 15, 2019.

Outdoor Burning Reminder

Residents of New Denver are reminded that outdoor burning is regulated within the Village of New Denver.  Permits are required for all outdoor fires except cooking fires contained within a barbecue pit or fire pit having a surface area not greater than four (4) square feet; or within a manufactured gas, coal or electric barbecue.

Free burning permits are available from April 1st to May 15th and from September 30th to November 15th – for more information please contact the Village Office, weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Council thanks all residents for their cooperation.

CIP/AAP Grant Programs – New Submission Process

The Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Programs (CIP/AAP) proposals are now being accepted until the deadline at 4:30 pm on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

Please note that the 2019 submission process has changed and in advance of submitting your 2019 proposal you are encouraged to carefully read through the application guide and application worksheet.  This year’s proposals must be submitted through the Trust’s online application system.

CIP/AAP Programs are intended to be flexible and incorporate community-based funding decisions. The programs support local projects that provide additional value to Basin communities and that benefit the broadcommunity and public good.

NEW OFFICE HOURS

Effective February 1, 2019, the Village of New Denver municipal office will be open weekdays except statutory holidays from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Woodstove Exchange Program

Does your old wood stove need replacing? The RDCK is pleased to announce that the Woodstove Exchange Rebate Program will continue through 2019!  The program offers residents of the RDCK and local municipalities up to a $500 incentive to replace their old, inefficient woodstove with a new, cleaner-burning heating appliance.  The Woodstove Exchange Program is a partnership with the Province of BC, the BC Lung Association, the RDCK, and local RDCK municipalities.

Only complete applications will be considered for grants – on a first come first serve basis. Grant quantities are limited.

WINTER PLOWING

BUSINESS LICENCES

Business owners are reminded that a current Business Licence is required for all commercial undertakings of any kind within the Village of New Denver, including home-based businesses, professional, personal or other services for the purpose of gain or profit. Business Licences are available from the Village Office.

DOG LICENCES

Dog owners in the Village of New Denver are reminded that all dogs residing in the Village of New Denver are required to have a current dog licence, which can be obtained from the Village Office.  In accordance with the Village of New Denver’s Animal Control Bylaw, residents of New Denver are reminded that there is a $15.00 reduction in the licence fees, if the licence for the current year is purchased prior to January 31st or within 30 days of the date that the owner first comes into possession of the dog.

In accordance with Section 166 of the Community Charter, the Council of the Village of New Denver invites public consultation in the preparation of the Village’s 2019 Five Year Financial Plan. Council welcomes public input from residents of the Village with regards to items they would like to see addressed in the budget.

To ensure Council’s consideration please submit your comments to the Village of New Denver Municipal Office no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, February 15, 2019.
