The Council of the Village of New Denver is actively seeking individuals to sit on the following Regional District of Central Kootenay Commissions:
· Rosebery Parklands and Trails (Galena Trail) Commission
· Recreation Commission # 6
· Slocan Valley Economic Development Commission

Letters of interest should be submitted to the Council of the Village of New Denver no later than 4:00 pm on November 22, 2018. If you have any questions, please contact the Village Office.

If you have not yet paid your 2018 Utility Bills for water and garbage collection charges, please do so before December 31, 2018 to avoid daily interest charges. Payments can be made by cash, cheque or debit at the Village Office, or through KSCU’s online payment service. 2019 Utility Bills will be mailed to property owners in early January. If you have questions about the status of your account, please contact the Village office.

In the recent 2018 municipal election, the voters of New Denver elected a new Council, who will be sworn into office at the Inaugural Meeting scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018, in Council Chambers.   Regular Meetings of Council will continue to take place at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month, in Council Chambers.

Eligible electors can vote in the upcoming municipal election at the general voting opportunity which will be held from 8 AM– 8 PM on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Village Office. Mail Ballot voting is available for eligible electors unable to vote at the general or advance voting opportunities. For information about elector eligibility, requesting a mail ballot package or other election matters, please contact Catherine Allaway, Chief Election Officer or Lisa McGinn, Deputy Chief Election Officer.

New Building Concept Presentation – Bosun Hall

All area residents are invited to attend a presentation of the revised concept building plans for a new Bosun Hall.  Two identical presentations are scheduled on October 15, 2018 to improve options to attend.

This study was made possible through the financial contributions of the Columbia Basin Trust and the Village of New Denver.

Next Steps

These final conceptual plans will be received by Council to assist them in community engagement sessions regarding the  future of the current building and site.

The Village of New Denver is now accepting applications for the position of:


This is a non-permanent, part-time, project-based position for the supervision and coordination of the site, personnel and subcontractors that will work on the Knox Hall Revitalisation Project.

Duties include: report all relevant site activities to appropriate administrative personnel; supervise the quality and safety of work performed; plan and organize schedules; inspect the work of subcontractors; assign duties to workers and confer with appropriate administrative personnel on matters regarding scheduling of required manpower; set up and maintenance of the project site; prepare progress reports regarding project objectives, materials used, and budget tracking.

Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge and experience in building restoration and site management.

As a result of the recent rain, the provincial campfire ban has been lifted.  Small campfires and cooking fires (contained and having a surface area of less than four square feet) are now permitted within the municipal boundaries.

With the arrival of fall weather, the Village of New Denver has removed restrictions on sprinkling.  All residents are thanked for their compliance this past summer, and their continued efforts to reduce water consumption.

Residents and property owners are reminded that there is a planned power outage scheduled for Sunday, September 23, 2018, from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. to enable BC Hydro crews to complete upgrades to the distribution system.
