Resident Electors – To qualify as a resident elector, a person must meet all of the following requirements at the time of voting:
- age 18 or older on or before general voting day
- a Canadian citizen
- a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration
- a resident of the Village of New Denver in accordance with applicable legislation
- not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any enactment from voting in an election, or otherwise disqualified by law
Non-resident property elector – If you own property in the Village of New Denver (residential property only), but you live elsewhere in BC, you are eligible to vote if you meet the following requirements at the time of voting:
- must be registered as a non-resident property elector in the Village of BC
- 18 years of age or older on the day of registration or general voting day
- a Canadian citizen
- a resident of BC, in accordance with applicable legislation, for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration
- a registered owner of real property in the Village of New Denver, for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration
- an individual not holding the real property in trust for a corporation or any other trust
- not entitled to register as a resident elector in the Village of New Denver
- not entitled to register as a non-resident property elector in relation to any other parcel of real property in the Village of New Denver
- if there is more than one individual who is the registered owner, only one individual may register and vote in relation to the real property and the person doing so must have received the written consent of the majority of individuals registered as owners of the real property
- not disqualified from voting by any enactment or by law
To qualify as a non-resident property elector, you will need to bring ID and a number of official forms with you on voting day. You may also bring the documents to the Village of New Denver Office to register with the Election Officer or Deputy Election Officer in advance of the voting day:
- Form No. 7.2. Non Resident Property Elector – remember to have your signature on the form witnessed by another individual, who will also sign and provide their residential address
- Form No. 7.3. Non Resident Consent Form – only one registered owner per property is permitted to vote. If several non-residents own a single piece of property, the owners must select only one of the owners to vote
- A photocopy of proof of ownership of the property must be made available (such as property tax notice, assessment notice or certificate of title)
- Two pieces of valid identification that prove who you are, one of which must include your signature.
ID requirements
To register in person at the time of voting, please bring two pieces of acceptable identification that provide evidence of your identity and place of residence (one item must contain your signature).

- Statutory Declaration/Sworn Affidavit (from a notary public, lawyer or commissioner for taking affidavits)
- Student card
- Utility bill (electricity, natural gas. water, telephone or cable service)
