RDCK Recreation Commission 6 (Rec 6) Committee Members
The Regional District of Central Kootenay Bylaw No. 2791 established a commission to make recommendations on the Villages of New Denver and Silverton, and a portion of Electoral Area H Recreational Program Local Service. This commission is known as Rec 6.
The purpose of Rec 6 is to:
- enhance the quality of life of participants in the Service Area by providing grant funds to recreation and service providers in Villages of New Denver and Silverton, and a portion of Electoral Area H
- consider and make recommendations to the Board on improvements and program delivery taking place at the recreational facility within the Service Area
- consider and make recommendations to the Board on the acquisition and development of recreational facilities and program delivery in the Service Area
- review the financial performance of the service relative to the annual budget approved by the Board
- consider and make recommendations to the Board on the budget for review
- to act as two-way conduit of information and communications between the Regional District staff and the Board, and the communities within the Service Area, on Regional District matters affecting the community
In addition to the Council members appointed to this Commission, the Village of New Denver is also required to appoint one (1) member-at-large and one (1) alternate member-at-large from the Village of New Denver. These are two-year appointments. Both positions are currently vacant (as of September 19, 2024); new members will be appointed as soon as possible.
To be eligible you must be at least 18 years of age and live within the boundaries of the Village of New Denver.
