VALHALLA PARK POST-WILDFIRE RECOVERY UPDATE

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Logo-BC-Ministry-of-Environment-and-Parks.jpeg

Update as of June 24, 2026: Currently in Phase 2 of an ongoing multi-phased recovery plan, directed towards campgrounds, trails and day use areas along Slocan Lake.

WORK PROGRESS

Opening of Wee Sandy and Sharp Creek to Overnight Camping and Day Use:

  • A key step forward this month has been the re-opening of Wee Sandy and Sharp Creek to boat-access recreational day use and overnight camping.
  • Please note that there will be a temporary period where these sites will be open, but closure signage is still on site. Staff will be on location to remove closure signs in early July.

Continued closure of Nemo Creek to Overnight Camping and Day Use:

  • BC Parks recognizes that Nemo Creek is a very popular site for day use, beach access, and overnight camping. Unfortunately, the 2024 wildfire destroyed the only toilet facility. BC Parks is working to replace it, but installation is not expected until 2027.
  • To support safe and enjoyable park use, BC Parks requires adequate toilet facilities to manage human waste at high-use sites. As a result, Nemo Creek will remain closed until permanent infrastructure is in place.

Our next update is anticipated by Fall 2026.

UPDATE ON CLOSURES
