With farming and gardening season upon us once again, many of us are feeling a sense of hope, new beginnings and connecting with the earth.
In these days of threatened global food supply, a sharp increase in cost-of-living and continuing supply chain uncertainties, it makes sense to double down on food security in our local community.
Here in the Slocan Valley, we have seen an uptick in recent years of new farms and farm stands, an increase in residents turning to food production and processing to make a living, and more folks supporting them by buying local.
With this in mind, the Slocan Valley Economic Development Partnership (SVEDP) has created a new campaign called Slocan Valley Grown. As part of the campaign, they have published a new Local Food Guide and Map to help connect residents and visitors with the ever-growing number of farms, farm stands, food producers, grocers and farmer’s markets in the area.

In an effort to support our local agriculture sector, in association with Arrow Slocan Tourism and with funding from Columbia Basin Trust, SVEDP is pleased to provide this Local Food Guide as a Valley Voice newspaper insert, in its May 5 edition, delivered to all local post office boxes within its distribution area. Copies of the guide can also be found at participating Slocan Valley businesses and Visitor Information Centres in the greater region.
A digital version of this brochure can be found by clicking the button above, using the QR code found on the paper version, or by visiting the community website www.slocanvalley.com/grown.

*We did our best to include all relevant Slocan Valley businesses in the new local food guide, and to ensure the information in it is correct. We sincerely apologize if there are any errors or omissions in a first edition like this. Please keep in mind when using the guide that things do change so make sure to double check information online or contact the businesses before making plans.
