ARBOUR DAY

The Village of New Denver is holding an Arbour Day starting on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 and will pick up all yard and pruning waste that is bundled or bagged and placed at the curb. Please ensure that all bundles are not more than 4 feet in length (use sturdy twine) and bags are an acceptable weight. Absolutely no household garbage or construction material will be picked up. If you have unusually large amounts of brush or woody debris that you’d like removed, please call the Village Office to confirm prior to pick up. Collection of material may take some time as there are significant amounts of debris due to winter storms. Thank you for your patience.

OPEN BURNING BAN

Residents are advised that there is currently a provincial ban on open burning in the area served by the New Denver & Area Volunteer Fire Department which will remain in effect until at least April 15th.  Campfires are still allowed, provided they are smaller than 2 feet by 2 feet.  The Village will not be issuing open burning permits until the ban is lifted.

COVID-19 UPDATE – March 28, 2020

The Village of New Denver continues to work closely with partner agencies to ensure the best possible outcome for our residents.  In addition to the Orders from the Provincial Health Officer designed to reduce the spread of the virus (details here), there are now Orders from the Solicitor General that are intended to maintain supply chains and protect consumers (details here).  The Federal Government has also taken actions to protect the health of Canadians (details here) and to provide economic relief to those in need (details here).  The BC Centre For Disease Control remains the best source of general information about the COVID-19 virus.

Residents are advised that there is currently a ban on Open Burning in the area served by the New Denver & Area Volunteer Fire Department.  This ban is in effect until April 15th, but does not apply to campfires (less than 2 feet by 2 feet, and contained in a pit or ring) at this time.

All Village-owned buildings remain closed to the public.  Parks and trails remain open, and residents are encouraged to enjoy these options while maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from anyone not in their household.  Staff at the Village Office remains available to answer questions and provide phone and email service during regular office hours.

The Province of British Columbia has declared a State of Emergency in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Village of New Denver continues to work closely with the BC government, Interior Health Authority and other partner agencies to monitor the COVID-19 situation and respond appropriately. With the COVID-19 situation ever-evolving, we are closing the Village Office to the public in order to reduce the risk of spreading the virus within our community. 2020 Woodstove Exchange Program

MORE PROVINCIAL FUNDING FOR 2020 WOOD STOVE EXCHANGE PROGRAM

In order to qualify for the rebate, residents must replace an old (pre-1994), uncertified wood stove with a new, locally purchased, EPA- or CSA-certified wood stove, gas stove, pellet stove, or insert. The stove must be in active use for home heating. One rebate permitted per property.  Old stoves must be dismantled and brought to a local landfill or transfer station for disposal.
