Boundary Extension Process
In the the spring of 2020, the Village of New Denver initiated a municipal boundary extension process, proposing to include new properties within Village boundaries. This mostly affected the area known as Denver Siding, properties between the Village and Denver Siding, and properties outside of the Village already connected to the Village’s water system.
The purpose of this municipal boundary extension was to provide Denver Siding water system customers with a safe supply of drinking water. Grant funds had been received by the Village of New Denver to improve the Denver Siding water distribution system in the event of a boundary extension taking place.
On July 5, 2021, Cabinet approved Order in Council No.421, prepared by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, issuing Letters Patent and finalizing the Boundary Extension. All properties outlined in the maps below as being within the Proposed Municipal Boundary Extension Area are now within the limits of the Village of New Denver.
Alternative Approval Process
The Village completed an Alternative Approval Process (AAP) between January 28, 2021 and March 15, 2021. The AAP was certified on March 19, 2021, confirming that Village of New Denver elector approval was received and the Boundary Extension process could proceed. Additional information about the AAP is available online HERE. A copy of the AAP Notice, as posted in the Valley Voice, is available for viewing online HERE.
On April 7, 2021 the Village forwarded results of the AAP to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, along with Council Resolutions confirming the process and the area to be included in the boundary extension. Maps were then prepared by the Province, and review and referrals completed.
